The SISU 8x8 model features an integrated load handling mechanism, which gives the vehicle a low centre of gravity and a low overall height. As a result, the SISU 8x8 can be transported in an aircraft (e.g. Hercules C-130). With a standard 1CC container, the overall height of the vehicle is less than four metres. The STANAG 3 mine and ballistic-protection of the cabins can be installed quickly even in the field. In addition, the cabin is airtight, which enables NBC protection.
Caterpillar has reduced the engine emissions by developing the Acert system that will reduce the emission without any additives. The Acert technology is based on an advanced combustion process where the most complete combustion can be achieved even in low combustion temperatures. As a result, the combustion products are less harmful. The Acert system contains several advanced solutions such as variable valve timing and the connecting of two turbos in one series. The system will not compromise the engine performance, efficiency or service life.
